Introducing the Cross Bosses, Generation 0 NFT Mint Drop by Hot Cross
Mint NFTs. Collect NFTs. Stake NFTs. Flex NFTs.
We’ve been teasing this out long enough that it’s safe to say most of you know what’s coming: an NFT mint drop by Hot Cross along with an NFT staking platform.
What you don’t know are the details. Or the fact that this is Act One. Usually, these posts are overly formal. Today’s a Friday so we’re doing it a little differently. Mostly details with not as much fat. Let’s get into it.
Act One, Scene One
Enter Cross Bosses—Generation 0—a collection of 8,000 unique, 1/1 ERC-721 standard NFTs generated with various body types, backgrounds, glasses, eyes, mouths, hats, accessories, and more.
Conceptually, they exist. But they also don’t exist until you mint them. Their base utility is the most precious utility of an NFT: happiness, verifiable ownership, provenance, flexing, community, and signaling.
How to get one: a new mint application will be live here.
KYC’d community gets first shot. Whitelisted.
Non-KYC’d community then goes next. Non-whitelisted.
Payment method: HOTDOG.
Buy HOTDOG with HOTCROSS. Easy.
Cost: 400 HOTDOG. (This is around ~$200.)
Max mint cap per wallet: TBA, but no fewer than 4. This basically just means you can mint up to at least 4, but that number may go up. Yes, you can mint 1, 2, 3, etc.
When to get it: before Christmas (December 25th, 2021). Official timing TBA.
Where to get it: Binance Smart Chain
What to do with it: admire it. Flex it. Set it as your avatar. You know the drill.
Where to buy/sell it after minting: TBA
Act One, Scene Two
Enter NFT staking, a multi-chain NFT staking platform that may be used for staking Cross Bosses—or any other NFT collection for that matter—for ERC-20 assets. In short, we’ve developed audited smart contracts that allow anyone to stake an ERC-721 or ERC-1155 and receive either one or multiple ERC20’s as an incentive.
There’s also a way to stake and get incentives based on any number of trait types or rarity types in Cross Bosses. If 8,000 NFTs are created, there may be a staking pool that’s only open to, for example, pouty mouth bosses. Or pink sunglasses bosses. Or any of the 40 super-rares that were created to stand out from the crowd.
There’s a catch: you are owed nothing. Buy the toy for joy. Or Scene Two in this Act may punish you. That is to say: Cross Bosses exist to delight. Do that first. Staking is a cherry on top of a three-month long design production.
Cross Boss attitude coming through? It should. 😤
Act One, Scene Three
Cross Bosses aren’t cute. They’re face-melting, attitude-packed, swagger-laced piggies that aren’t here to mess around. They’re on a mission to do something, anything but sit still. Enter humanity.

You may not see it, but Cross Bosses are designed from Day 1 to be gamified. Or GameFi’d. How do you design a beautiful collection of NFTs but also give them the ability to be ported into games? We’ve done that.
Act One, Scene Four
Cross Bosses are tribal. They are generational. Boss Gen 0 from the West may or may not feel like it’s a good time to play with Boss Gen 0 from the East. Boss Gen 0 from the South may be besties with Boss Gen 0 from the North. Dunno—that depends on you, tbh—tribalism unfolds as users mint Cross Bosses, acquire and sell Cross Bosses, and form friendships based on their mutual love of Cross Bosses.
You are Cross Bosses. You make Scene Four.

Act One, Scene Five
AR. Metaverse.
Concepts of mixing reality with the online world.
Concepts of delight and being unsure if you’re interacting with a Cross Boss or its representation in the real world emerge.
Your Cross Boss appears in your room, on your head, on your computer screen, in a staking pool, on a watch face, in a merch shop, it’s yours. How will you use it?
Act Two, Scene One
Something else.
Cross-chain NFTs are broke. Multi-chain Bizzaro world bossed up NFTs are woke.

Tech. Only.
For nerds like us.
Cross Bosses Generation 0 will be immutable, on IPFS;
Provenance will be computed via hash determinism;
NFT IDs will range from 0 to 7,999;
Randomness is achieved via a random offset value we get from Chainlink’s VRF;
Point 4 is important. When we pre-mint 1% for marketing, there’s no way that we can gamify or rig the system to give Hot Cross the “best” NFTs of the lot. It’s technically impossible and we’d be just as happy with the most basic Bosses as rares. Our concept of rare is different than your concept of rare.
NFTs are revealed when either a) the NFTs have sold out or b) a reveal timestamp has been reached. We suspect that the former will happen first.
